fandango theatre company present Dennis Potter's Blue Remembered Hills at the Union Theatre.

When you think about your childhood what do you remember? Days spent running about in a park or field without a care in the world, a time when Panini was a type of collectable sticker and not your lunch, days when it was fully acceptable to pick your scabs and tell someone about it!

Dennis Potter's much loved 1979 play brings childhood memories into startling focus.

On a sunny, summer afternoon in 1943, seven children play in the hills, fields, and forests of bucolic England. They encounter no adults, and their activities veer in spontaneous, unpredictable directions, with small cruelties and games echoing the distant war.

"Children are extraordinarily cruel little creatures … They don't know it, but I believe that is basically what it is to be human." Dennis Potter
