Review of Licking Wounds

He's reputed to be a genius, probably for his compulsive need to reduce everything in life to its spotty-faced truth. Whilst most artists spend energy trying to get out of their comfort zones, I suspect David has never entered his. He's in an underworld all of his own. And for £8.50 at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, you may duck from his venom.
The whole idea of the show is that he attacks--and we laugh. He is very troubled by his fellow man and has that madman air as have the sort of people you see walking up a street before they turn 90degrees and have a massive go at a tree. He is very funny. He is probably a sociopath: he hates us; he loves us sometimes; he enjoys flirting; and from between these conflicted emotions, he tears us all apart! Gay people! Young people! They are filth existing in a moral vacuum of their making and, David Tells us, "they have swallowed the pill of the surface!"
Special guest and avant garde performance artist Scottee joins in the second half--making the perfect foil with his fresh face and good manners--to talk about food, eating disorders, being superficial, and to hold the reins of wild David. All in it is very sadomasochistic, original and highly irregular evening.
