The Otter Gallery is supported by the University to provide an artistic service to its students and to the people of Chichester and the surrounding region.

The original gallery was established in 1990 as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations. The present dedicated Gallery, in the Learning Resources Centre, was opened by Lord Dearing in 1998.

The Gallery offers visitors a series of contrasting exhibitions in different media throughout the year. An emphasis is placed on giving young artists an opportunity to show their work. The Gallery welcomes proposals from artists for new exhibitions.

The Gallery also has a distinguished collection of 20th century British art, which complements the exhibition programme. It includes works by artists such as Henry Moore, Patrick Heron, Stanley Spencer and Graham Sutherland.
